Upperville Renovation

This home was built in the 1990's with a wonderful classical massing and exterior details. The exterior finishes had aspects that were never completed or needed significant updating. The interior was dated, lacked interesting details, quality materials, or salvageable finishes. There were a number of private rooms open to each other that limited the home’s functionality for its new owners.

We carefully simplified and updated the exterior, enhancing the overall color palette, fixtures, walking surfaces, roof materials, and swimming pool. The interior was re-envisioned as a dramatic series of public and private spaces. The main pavilion uses small seating arrangements to provide a comfortable scale, but all are open within one large room for large scale entertaining. Private spaces were edited to essential materials, including modern cabinetry and highest quality fixtures and finishes to create a dramatic and modern upscale retreat.
